Norfolk Botanical Garden is one of the most beautiful and versatile portrait and wedding photography locations in Coastal Virginia. With over 175 acres of curated gardens, waterfront views, seasonal blooms, and shaded walking paths, it offers an endless variety of backdrops in one cohesive, naturally stunning space. Whether you're planning engagement photos, bridal portraits, family sessions, or a full wedding day, the garden provides soft light, texture, and color in every direction.
The wedding staff is also incredibly supportive and accommodating, helping the entire day run smoothly from start to finish. One of the most helpful touches is their golf cart service, which makes it easy to move between ceremony sites and portrait locations without stress. It keeps the experience relaxed and efficient for couples and their families.
The space naturally encourages you to slow down, explore, and connect while every corner offers a new and beautiful setting for portraits. In the spring, the cherry blossom trees are a true highlight, creating a soft pink canopy that feels almost dreamlike in photographs. The Renaissance Court is another standout feature, known for its timeless design, tiered lawns, and classic marble statues that bring a sense of elegance and structure to portraits. These spaces make Norfolk Botanical Garden an unforgettable setting for both weddings and portraits.
If you're considering Norfolk Botanical Garden for your photos, there's one important thing to know before booking. Norfolk Botanical Garden requires all professional portrait sessions to be booked directly through the Garden.
At the time of publication, the photography session fee is $250 and includes:
- A two-hour photography session
- Garden admission for up to six people
If you plan to visit the Garden more than once throughout the year, I actually recommend purchasing a Family Membership instead of paying the one-time photography session fee. The cost is comparable, and Family Members receive one complimentary photography session each year, along with unlimited admission to the Garden and additional member benefits. For most couples and families, it's the better value if you think you'll return to enjoy the Garden beyond your photo session.
